History

With a dream to do well by doing good, company founder Paul Kirpes began a consulting practice in 1976. Driven to bring performance-based counsel to not-for-profit and charitable organizations, he established The Philanthropy Group in 1989. From the beginning, TPG attracted clients who recognized its unique approach to business. From its earliest days, TPG recognized the synergy created by integrating the best components of the not-for-profit and commercial business sectors: the passion of not-for-profit organizations to fulfill a mission and the commitment of commercial businesses to meet bottom line objectives.

The company continues to expand its network of consultants, attracting professionals, like Paul, who are energized by purposeful work with measurable outcomes. Today, TPG Companies leverages a growing network of professionals and staff with diverse experiences serving charities, communities and commercial clients, from Fortune 100 companies to neighborhood organizations.

While the company has always served commercial clients alongside its charitable sector clients, in 2005 it introduced TPG Management Consulting to highlight its expanding products and services for the corporate sector. TPG Philanthropy Group continues to focus on serving public benefit organizations, charities, communities and governments.  Together, these two collaborative operations make up the TPG Companies, business consultants to the organizations that change the world.
